Who Should Get Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants are recommended for children soon after their first and second permanent molars erupt, usually between the ages of 6 and 14. Teenagers and adults with healthy molars that have deep grooves but no existing decay may also benefit.

First, our dentist thoroughly cleans the teeth to remove plaque and debris. Once the teeth are clean, they dry them carefully to ensure the sealant bonds properly.

Application of Dental Sealants

The dentist applies a special conditioning solution to prepare the tooth surface. After rinsing and drying the tooth again, they paint the dental sealant into the grooves of the tooth where cavities most commonly develop.

Curing

We use a special curing light to quickly harden the sealant. Once it has set, we check your bite to ensure everything feels natural. You can return to your normal activities immediately after your appointment.
